I had jury duty this morning and I was one of the last people to get dismissed, but dismissed I am so no need to serve for the next three years. I didn’t feel like going all the way to work so I’m working from home this afternoon and I’m having a wonderful time. I have a tasty little cup of Senseo next to me and Getz/Gilberto on the stereo. All is good.

Last night I set up a new version of WordPress for our wedding website. Man, it is awesome. One of these days when I have a lot of time to deal with the fallout, I’ll update the version that I use for orangeparade. I highly recommend checking WordPress 1.5 out.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned the insanity that is my garden. I think I’ve picked about 40 cucumbers so far. It’s a good thing we like to eat cucumbers and so do our neighbors and friends. I even brought a bunch back to Michigan this past weekend. I go out to the garden every other day or so and it seems like there’s always 5-10 new cucumbers to pick. Crazy! The tomatoes are just starting to ripen and the basil and parsley are going like gangbusters. The cilantro isn’t doing quite as well as most of it has been jumped by the cukes. I need to think of good things to do with large amounts of basil other than just make pesto. I already have a lot of pesto. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

The temperature is currently 91 with around 80% humidity. Beep.
On the plus side, it is not necessary to water the lawn or the garden.
On the minus side, walking outside is disgusting. Soccer tonight will be interesting.

you could call it morning

Hello, hello. The current time is 3:32a, EDT. My alarm went off 15 minutes ago and I’m rearin’ to go after, basically, no sleep. We’re leaving in about an hour for the airport to catch a 5:50 flight to Nashville, via Cinci. I’ve never been to either of those airports so that’s a bit of excitement for me. Actually, I’m very excited for this trip. We’re going for a friend’s wedding but we have plenty of time for solo sightseeing. This is the first trip we’ve taken in practically forever where we aren’t staying with or going for the express purpose of seeing friends or family. Lots of nice alone time to look forward to here. (Note: not that I don’t love seeing the fam & the friends, this is just a nice change of pace.)
I’d better hit the showers. Got to look pretty for the first time I see biscuits and sweet tea in oh-so-long.

Oh, I wish I was …

Back from Jodie’s wedding, which was gorgeous in every way, and I can’t remember the last time I was so exhausted. And I was just a bridesmaid. I can only imagine how tired Jodie must be. She and her crew put together a wonderful and interesting weekend. Jeremie and I flew back the afternoon of the 4th so that we could go to the beach and see the fireworks, but we were so zonked by the time we got home and there was no way we were leaving again. Since we got back, I’ve spent pretty much every available moment at home sleeping.

It was really nice being in Detroit for a few days, hanging out at Jeremie’s parents’ house and seeing friends and family. One of my friends just moved from NYC back to Detroit & bought a house and I think that’s pretty awesome.
